Michelle McCovey-Good is of Hupa and Yurok descent from Northern California. She has over 25 years of experience in the engineering of residential, commercial, multi-family, mixed-use, industrial, historic rehabilitation, tenant improvement, and solar installation projects in numerous structural systems and materials of construction. Michelle is a licensed Professional Engineer in California as well as a number of other states. As a Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo Alumni, learn by doing is embedded into Michelle's engineering practice.
With an outgoing personality and a wealth of knowledge, Michelle is an active leader. She has been involved in state and national groups such as the American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES), the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California (SEAOSC), the American Indian Council of Architects and Engineers (AICAE), and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC). Michelle is also on the Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, Lumina Alliance Board of Directors, and REACH Council Member. She also is an advocate for historic preservation and is the Corporate Secretary of the Monday Club Conservancy.
Serving her tribe is important to Michelle. She serves on the Hoopa Valley Land Use Commission, and the Core Planning Team for the Agriculture Conservation and Resiliency General Plan. She is also the Vice Chair of the Denoto Corporation Board of Directors, a section 17 entity of the Hoopa Valley Tribe.
Michelle is passionate about efficient and aesthetically beautiful design. She strongly believes that beautiful design is not exclusive to high budget projects. Every budget can accommodate thoughtful, inspired design.
